What a wonderful start to the “Bible Challenge.” We had a wonderful time learning about the tools available to aid us in the discipline of reading through the Bible in a year, Chronologically. Remeber to post your praises, questions, comments, and observations here as you begin this journey into the mind of God through his Word.

Is Church important?

Western culture is entering a difficult time in its history as it faces a difficult economy, an unsure future, and rapid observed moral and ethical decline. There seems to be a culture wide shift from the absolutes of Biblical transcendent truth to a church culture that focuses rather on tolerance, political correctness, and social justice.

At the same time, culturally, we now face expectations for a pace of life and experience/involvement opportunities that weigh so heavy on our time that we have little time left for family, let alone extra curricular church activities and events. Both quality and quantity time with our families seems to be, at best, just getting by in the wake of the current culture’s pace of involvements and careers.

Is the N.T. established church important to you? Why, if so, is it relevant to Western culture? How can it impact the culture we now live in? What part do each of us play? What is our role in the local church? How much should we be willing to sacrifice of what life has to offer for the ministry of the local church? Most important of all, what does God say about all these questions in the Bible, our sole authority for life and practice?
