Update from Gov. Murphy on church services

WBChurch and friends,

We continue to monitor the state’s management of this pandemic. Yesterday in his daily briefing, Gov. Murphy shared some thoughts about places of worship moving forward. I wanted to share this with you in the event that you missed it. You can see the full transcript HERE.

He said in part, "As long as our health metrics continue to trend in the right direction, I anticipate being able to raise the limits on indoor gatherings in a way that will allow for greater indoor religious services beginning the weekend of June 12. That’s Friday, June 12. That’s two weeks from today. I and my administration will continue our deep partnership with our faith communities as we work through the proper safeguards that will need to be in place before we can welcome our communities back into their houses of worship…Our houses of worship are cornerstones of our communities, often rooted in historical and cultural tradition. Sheila and I have said this often, even if we bat 1,000 as a government, we do everything right, we cannot remotely get to where we need to get to as a state without our faith institutions, both inside their houses of worship and as importantly in their tentacles into the community, and we’ve seen that throughout this pandemic. We want them, these institutions, to be strong and safe."

We will keep you informed as those changes are enacted.

WBChurch is continuing to cautiously function as much as we are able.

We will still have a fellowship Zoom from 9:45-10:15. Watch your email in the morning for connection instructions.

We again plan to live stream tomorrow’s service at 10:30 AM. We are doing our best to keep up with system/service changes/updates in the technology tools used to do so. Given the challenges we face, please note the following:

  • We can only "test" the system when we are actually streaming live, so there might still be issues
  • I will give you the links, but if one does not work, try one of the others. Most of the time at least one of them works.
  • We will be doing the service at the scheduled 10:30 Sunday AM time one way or another. If for some reason it does not broadcast live, we will do our best to have the recording posted by or before 2 PM on YouTube and Facebook, so please check back
  • Given limited personnel, this remains challenging so we appreciate your understanding
  • Texts to me or Pastor Eddie during the time the service is being recorded cannot be read or responded to, since we are already "wearing many hats" to make things happen.
  • We are aware the camera angle, graphics, or setting may not be as polished as it could be. Since we are coping with all these demands, we just ask your forbearance.
  • Please see the option links below for watching live/or seeing it later in the day.

Here is what the podium looked like just to do the zoom last Sunday

  • Our regular attendees are still welcome to come watch the live stream/recording in person at 10:30 AM
  • Please let me know if you plan to come and watch the live streaming/recording in person
  • We will continue to have in place social distancing, ask you to wear a mask unless on the platform, and park in the back lot at church.
  • This is only for the main service stream/recording at 10:30, no sunday school, refreshments, children’s ministries or nursery will be provided.
  • There are masks available in the entryway for anyone that might not have access to one
  • Ushers will open the doors for your entry to minimize any surface contact

Keep in mind, if one is not streaming by 10:32, try another.
